Guys, I've been chasing one of these elusive little rascals for a long time - just don't seem to come up for sale all that often - not one that I could afford anyway.....so when I had an opportunity to get this one, I went for it.
Brings me that much closer to completing the set - still need sixteen, and, of course, the missing ones are all the higher dollar ones. I'll get there someday (if I live long enough).

Great find. These 78-CC dimes are far harder to find than most people think. Even with the scratch you did good finding a nice original coin.

Congratulations indeed! It's actually easier to find Seated dimes as love tokens than it is to find them in collectible condition.

Thanks guys. As I said, I've been trying to find one I could afford for quite some time, so I'm kind of stoked about finally getting one.
My set (dansco album) is in fine or better, and, as I pointed out in my original post, I still need sixteen to complete it - those still missing are: 1838 partial drapery, 1856-S, 1858-S, 1860-O, 1863, 1864, 1865, 1866, 1867, 1871-CC, 1872-CC, 1873-CC, 1874-CC, 1879, 1880, and 1885-S, so this set will be an ongoing project for some time to come.

be carefule when buying 1866P dimes, the majority of them have a VERY weak mintmark, and are OFTEN passed off as the scarce P mint, I've seen literally a dozen in the last few years and unfortunately, even a few in slabs.

Nice finding that one. Really not an easy coin to find anymore. At coin shows I ses so few of them I sometimes wonder if there are any more left in the World.

Thanks Carl. I know what you mean about this one being difficult to find - I've probably spent the past two years searching, but they are, indeed, scarce.....just don't see them offered up that often - I feel very fortunate to have finally found one for my set.

seateddime48174 - thanks for the heads up about the mint mark on the 1866.

there was a guy in TX building a hoard of 78cc dimes, not sure if he is still at it, I know this for a fact as I sold him close to a dozen myself.

Beautiful coin, and pricey for sure. All CCs are great, but thats definitely a top choice. I am envious.
