This one just arrived today - tomorrow it goes into the vault. Looks pretty good in the hand - I'm guessing MS-62 or better. Anyone else have an opinion ?

Chirp.

It's lonely out here tonight, Thursday night on the 4th of July weekend.

I can buy 62 on this one. If it'll make you feel better, it caused me to find a discrepancy in the known 1903-P VAM's - I had a go at attributing yours since it was a near date, and found two different VAMs listed with the same die gouge.

I think it could grade MS-62. Those small scratches on the face, I think could keep it from a higher grade on a otherwise nice looking coin.

Alrighty, then - MS 62 sounds about right. Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I paid $48 (shipped) for it, NGC says it's worth about $75. I think I did okay. Now I've got my eye on a certified 1883-O Morgan that I believe is underpriced......current bid is $35.00, NGC says $85.00.

I may just have to fill another hole in the album !

I'll have to agree with MS62 and I'll add that it's a well struck example.

I'm leaning towards a nice "slider" AU-58 on this one. I see a lot of friction and contact marks not found from being bagged. The coin could have passed through a few hands or slid over a bar top before it got tucked away. Still a nice coin.

I am also leaning towards a slider. AU58. For a definate grade I would need to hold in hand but this photo shows me tell tale signs of a slider with the many small marks and hairlines on cheek.
