Quote:Invest in a good industrial strength back brace, next Ed.

Probably not a bad idea, Traevin. The good news is that it is nicely portable in small amounts!

I can't believe you held off from opening it for 2 days!
The first day was the worst. Yeah, I was tempted to rip it open right there and then but the thought of not getting all of the pix I wanted to post stayed my eager hands.

I see Idaho and New Mexico. What other states do you have there and what mintmarks?
I plan to keep them in the paper coin roll wrapping for the time being so can only see the ones on the ends of the rolls. These are pretty much just silver bullion to me, so states and mint marks are not too important. Weight and purity is where it is at for bullion. Once I get some plastic tubes for these coins, I will take a closer look at states and mint marks.

Very nice, Ed!
Thanks, CW.

unreal man that is a lot of silver. at what point you gonna cash in?
I dunno, Daniels. I'm just building my hoard now and not planning to sell any time soon. I suppose that if it jumped up to around $50 or so, I would sell maybe half of it in the hope of buying it back later at a lower price. That could be a good way of raising the oz. count. Problem is, this is my financial disaster insurance. If a huge financial problem hits and I've sold off half of my hoard but can't buy it back that would be a colossal oops on my part.

Great buy Ed! Nice time to get more silver since the market has softened up a bit.
Thanks, RJK. Yeah, silver under $30 an oz. looks good to me from a long term buyer / holder perspective. It could go to $25 or even $20 but probably not all that much lower due to the cost of production being around $20 an oz. If the paper price falls to $15 an oz., that doesn't mean that any will actually be available at that price. OTOH, it could move up too and that would be good. Even if it does not move up as strongly as some think that it will, it is nice to have something that can't be over-printed and cheapened by the Fed / gov.

WOW that is crazy! How much do these Ampex boxes cost, and where do you get them?
Heh heh... oddly enough, they come from
APMEX when one places and pays for an order of coins, rounds, or bars. As to how much they cost... depends on what's in 'em!

Wow, another great buy
Thanks, CB. I am hoping that this is the case and that in future years silver becomes more expensive. I am using this as an inflation hedge and as insurance against a colossal economic disaster. Maybe it's just me but as time goes by I have less and less faith in the ability and character of those running the Fed and the government. Disaster looms, thanks in large part to their reckless fiscal, financial, and economic policies. The little folks in the world need something to fend off any bad times that result and this is one of the better ones, IMHO.

That's the kind of silver hoarding I like!
Me too, BH. Those of us who collect PMs see "hoarding" as something that anyone can do to the extent that they can afford. We each do what we can, which is good. Those who do not collect PMs but realize that they should have when they had the chance put an entirely different and very negative connotation on the words "hoarding" and "hoard". It's nice to be among the folks on this web site who understand that doing this is not harming anyone. But it very well might help fend off inflation and bad economic times at some point.

So it was you who bought the silver proof stae quarters before I could get my paycheck
Muahahahahahaha! Uh, just kidding! I suppose that one could say that I did but I am sure that any number of others did the same. There have been any number of times when I wanted to buy some VF grade
Walking Liberty halves but they got sold out before I could get some. They will be back in stock sooner rather than later, so hold onto that cash.

When it comes to buying silver, Ed is the MAN!
lol, but thanks for the thought, CW. I'm pretty sure that
APMEX has LOTS of customers who call up and order silver by the tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Compared to those folks, my buying is pretty puny.

Amazing stuff. Very nice choices!
Thanks, Trip. I really like the 1/2 and 1/4 dollar silver coins. There are enough of these around that they don't have much, if any, rarity premium. Still, they are beautiful 90% silver coins that are well worth collecting.

I can't speak for anyone specifically, but a lot of people stack as a hedge against inflation, not to "turn a profit."
Indeed, Namachieli, and that is one of the two reasons why I collect silver. I am a BIG fan of John Williams over at his Shadow Government Statistics web site. He really knows economics and studies what the Fed and gov are doing in great depth. His writings are something that everyone should read if they get the chance. Much of his web site is only for paying clients but there is still a good amount of free stuff there that anyone can read. My own shopping experience says that Williams is spot on and that Bernanke and Geithner are blowing smoke up our pant legs. If it becomes possible for me to sell some of my silver for a fat profit, I very well might do that, but it is not my main goal or intent at the moment.

I love opening those care packages! After the excitement of opening is over, I go into withdrawals and need to order another shipment.
LOL! Now those are classic symptoms of "silver mania", a mental disease that cannot be cured, only treated with regular doses of silver.

I must not have it as badly as you do. Getting a package like this keeps me in good spirits for at least 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks. After that, though, it is time to shop!
