An 1875 fake Spanish crown, weighing 23.7gms vs 25.0 target -

and an 1882, weighing 16.1gms vs 25.0

I quit, I promise.

I bought a few dozen off-metal fakes 10 years ago including this coin, some French and British crowns and an 1804 US dollar for about $2 per. No idea what to do with them. Will not sell.

Bill, are either of yours magnetic ?

Westwood: "No idea what to do with them. ..." - solder them together, and use them as fishing sinkers.

"Will not sell." - do you mean
"I won't sell them, because I don't want to";
or "I can't sell them, because I can't find a buyer".

As a collector of counterfeit coins - I do not care to see them destroyed - if something can be learned from them.

The uppermost copy has the look of a very early 20th century forgery.

The second looks far newer probably a "Tourist class fake" of the type used to bilk a tourist out of a buck.

Like all counterfeits - they should be published along with physical parameters and date of first discovery.

They should only be sold or traded to a specialist who will publish them or they should be given to one of the coin museums.
