Hi, the thread about the 2008 20c coin missing claw/feet prompted me to get your opinion of this coin.

It is a 1981 20 cent coins with much of the claw missing. But it also has severe rim damage that I wouldn't mind your collective opinion about.

Is it PMD or mint damage that might be connected to the missing claw die wear/damage problem?

What makes me think it might be mint damage is that both sides are flat around the damaged rim, like maybe the die has flattened it after the rim damage occurred. But, then again, I don't know much about the techniques that shed jobbers use or what sort of coins they 'produce'.

Your thoughts?

undoubtfully PMD IMO, and I agree with enworb, a lawnmower was probably the culprit.

with the previous comments and I also think that someone has hit it with a hammer to flatten out the damaged areas, so it's not so rough to the touch. It probably had some very sharp edges after it got mowed.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved
