Hello I was wondering if anyone out there knows anything about the 1937 Canada Brass Pattern set. I can't seem to find any information anywhere ,and was wondering if anyone knows how many were made, why they were produced, and what was their testing purpose. Also, if anyone knows of a website with info on it, please let me know. Thanks!

The matrices for 1937 Canadian coins were produced by the Paris mint. These brass coins were made for submission to The Royal Mint for approval.

It is listed in the Charlton catalogue with some details on weight etc. It is an upset dies coin. One was sold by J and M a couple of years ago. A full set of the pattern coins was sold in the Hertitage auction a year or so ago. A set (I assume the same one) was offered by TCNC more recently.

I will be testing the set owned by the Bank of Canada Currency Museum, sometime in the fall. I almost bought a 1c in this pattern a few years ago. To me, they don't look like normal coinage brass, they are almost greenish in colour.

Guess the powers-to-be did not like my post...
The Mint Reports contain way-way-more information, than some in the hobby care to admit to...

Hi CBU, I that report, the mint director gives reference to 'his last report' and how he 'outlined the procedure to creat new coinage designs. I was wondering if you had this report, and if there is anything in it refering to the 1937 brass patterns? Thanks! You have been of sooo much help!

Nothing in the 1936 Mint Report about "Brass Patterns", just mentions about standard protocols being observed... dts...
