Its probably from a die that was polished too much

Thats what I thought too.The 'Y' in LIBERTY is pretty much polished off as well.That sure makes Lincoln look funny.

The deeper the polishing, the more the devices suffer. Look at the Y in LIBERTY. A lot of steel was removed to reduce that device.
