Just another thought, I do NOT think there are a lot of original Packaging Collectors out there, I could be wrong,It does seem from all the slab comments, most like the slabs. In your opinions, what would the 2006 20th anniversary set, the 2011 25th anniversary set and this 2012 San Francisco set go for as a complete package,( Only sets the RP'S came in ) all 3 sets in original packaging, any comments on the perceived value........The Bay's sets on the 2011 especially, are rising, in OGP!!!!

The 2011 is probably 800ish the 2012 right now can still be had for around 200 maybe a little less but thats rising. Not that familiar with the 06 but Id guess 400-600. Probably looking at around 1500 total would be my guess with a significant portion of the value being carried by the RPs in all the sets

That would be a cool package play...the 2006's are still hanging in the $320-350 range raw mainly because only one coin can actually be attributed to the set (RP). So it's RP value plus a generic PF and burnished W added. It's too bad the graded slabs don't fit in the 06 packaging. I have around 35-40 2006 20th OGP's left over from having them graded. Not much demand for the packages without coins (and ebay is not cool with selling just the packaging) The '11 and '12 boxes are great protective holders for those graded sets..

I bought a set of 06' pcgs 69's from ebay, for $300, then I found someone that was selling the OGP for the 06 set on ebay so I bought that too for like $7 for empty box!

If they grsde anything less than MS/PF-70, then you just as well have raw sets in OGP. I have seen cases where a raw set in OGP will sell for more than MS/PF-69 sets.

I too have seen, MANY times where an all OGP sets sell for more then slabbed sets.... I guess the stars of these sets are the RP'S, I think I am going to test the waters and sell a 2006, 2011, 2012 OGP sets......... Just to see what the market will bear. I believe slabs have their value, BUT feel there is much also, to be said for the OGP................PS, I am thinking the real stars being the 3- RP'S should do well alone!!

Quote: I believe slabs have their value, BUT feel there is much also, to be said for the OGP Its true some people do prefer the OGP but the reason people will pay more for the OGP than slabbed 69 is because if you get the 69 you know thats what you have. If its in the OGP people think they are getting a 70 or have the shot for that instead of just knowing its a 69

As just a collector I am happy to have all three sets in the OGP all purchased from the mint, total cost $550.

Cant argue with that price at all. I missed out on the first two but I do have the 06 RP.

I could be wrong but wasnt the new 2012 set OGP designed so that the coins could be placed back into it even after they were slabbed?
I heard that somewhere which if true I think is a great idea

NICE to see more collectors of these and Mint sets...:) What years do you go back to? proof sets also? I also believe you are correct, that the 2011 set and the 2012 sets were made to fit slabs, once the original Mint issued coins were slabbed!!!!! Nice box as well........

Currently I have the silver proof sets. I started those not to long ago and have so many different sets going that I so far only have 1999-present for those. I have gotten some of the other normal ones to break open for type sets when need be and just got a State Quarter album that I will be breaking open the quarters in the uncirculated sets for same with ATB. I do wish the silver sets were all silver but either way like them a lot. I also plan on picking up a proof and uncir set for my birth year soon juts as a neat keep sake. Most of my sets like like modern commems, silver State Quarter, and ASE sets are slabbed 70 sets but I have the OGP for a lot of the coins. Ive thought about getting some of the eagle binders for the sets where you can slide the plastic coin holders in to save some space but so far havent gotten it yet. I do really like that the mint is starting to make some set boxes with slabbs in mind do you can still use the OGP either way. How about you

OGP is the way to go as far as I am concerned. I would bet that the majority of sets sold (American Eagle and regular proof sets) are never slabbed. I don't know the population reports for these coins, but I still think that most people who get these sets just don't say one way or the other if they get them graded or not. The mint has done a better job lately with packaging sets. Most people either don't bother to get them graded or don't know how to do it anyway. I personally think it is a waste of money to grade a modern coin. Just my opinion.
