shonit,

S-mint has always seemed rarer to me than the others, and there was a topic a few months ago about saving these. Unfortunately, I don't think any of your S-mints are proofs, as they would be if they were minted today. Anybody got a year on that?

I used to find quite a few 68, 69, and 70 S nickels in rolls as compared to any other dates. The 7o s also, of the three, was the most common for me to find.

These are common circulation strike coins ... even more so if you lived in California rather than Canada.

I have been noticing a significant spike in the amount of Memorial "S" cents I have been finding. I am in Michigan and don't understand why.

Wulffy, you don't understand why you're in Michigan?

But seriously, Nickelsearcher is right. I brought back three boxes of cents from California and I found more S mint cents in them than I would have found in 30 boxes from banks here in upstate NY.

shonit123, Did you check the 1970-S for the small date and for the DDO?

One thought is because of the economy people are turning in coins they were keeping. Where abouts in Mi are you fellow Michigander?

Found another proof quarter last night. I'm going to agree with John on this one.
