How many guys and gals out there have achieved completing a very important set, (to them) ? I think that when my Large Cent 1816-1857 set is completed I will have achieved a milestone. I am working on other year sets but this one means the most to me.

I'm such a scatterbrain that I don't think I have ever completed any set except the US Type Set in the Dansco 7070 album, and that was just once.

I want to complete another 7070 set, but I think my greatest desire is to complete an entire date set of US Large Cents, followed by a date set of US Half Cents (maybe), but the biggie for me would be completing a variety set of the middle date Large Cents 1816 - 1839. I keep coming back to that one, so I guess I'm doomed to give it a try

As an error collector, I could never have a Complete set. I do have an error coin type set that I feel would be complete (but I could always add to) if I could just find than elusive 6 cent peice and a Foldover Strike.

I am loking for a 6 or 7 cent pc too !!!!!!!!!!
Auldfartte, The varieties are what I started with my 16 to 57 set and I thought I might never live long enough to do it that way so I am doing dates only. I have started other date and mintmark sets only to quit as some of the keys are just too much $. I figure a complete date set if any coin is better for me as I would not be happy with a set and some coins missing, wouldn't be complete in my eyes. ^_^

I have two collections that I'm actively working on. The first is Bust Halves, which will probably be completed by my grandchildren, even though I am only collecting date/mint. The second collection is Chinese Unicorn coins. I'm not really looking to get a complete silver and gold set of these. I am actually adding them to an existing unicorn figurine collection because they are cool and look nice in the curio cabinet display.

Collecting..............Bust Halves, I have considered this series also, what years of you collecting; Flowing hair & Draped 1793-1806, or Capped Classic; 1807-1839--much easier;

& in what grade? for Capped Classic; 1807-1839; Fine grade looks do-able.

Thanks,

Tony, please explain this thing you call a 'complete set.' I have vaguely heard of such things, but didn't know that any existed.

Boy, oh boy. a "complete set",live and learn!

We're in the same boat......."waiting for the C.F.O. of this opperation to relese the funds"

I am waiting for the same, for our CFO to release/pay the 2006 bonuses, so I can attempt to complete my Morgan $1 set.

Until recently I never considered collecting a set of anything. From day one my collecting strategy was just to buy whatever caught my eye that particular day, so over the years I have managed to compile a very interesting assortment of just about everything that looks, smells, feels or remotely resembles a coin!

Lately I decided to assemble a nice BU set of State Quarters and now that is almost finished I have decided to do the same for the pres dollars. And just this week I started on my type set that I hope will consist of coins no less that AU. Actually I was able to fill about half the holes in the type set from duplicates that I had stashed away. The remainder of the holes will take awhile!! I never really took the time to think and realize how fun sets are to assemble.

The only set I have completed was Book 1 of my State Quarter album! But it was nice to put that last coin in place. Now that I'm not on the teller line as much Book 2 is proving harder to fill, but I'll get there!

Unfortunately I have just way to many completed sets and just can't stop. For example I started a Lincoln Cent collection way,way back. As it became completed I started to upgrade each coin. Then the ones that were replaced moved into a second set. Eventually I was up to 10 COMPLETED sets and recently started an 11th set but stopped and gave it away missing only about 8 coins. Now the replaced ones go into 2x2's. This is the same with 8 sets of Mercury dimes, 8 sets of
Buffalo nickels, 8 sets of Indian cents, etc., etc., etc. The amount of 2x2's has now grown to 9 of those 2 row boxes about 1 foot long made for 2x2's also jammed full. I recently gave away thousands of loose Wheat Cents and Jefferson nickels. However, at the rate I collect, that will be replaced all to soon. My new years resolution last time was to STOP, STOP, STOP.
