Has the same bumps my deliberately-purchased Chinese fake LCMs do.

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if names of ebay sellers, who sell this type of stuff, were ever posted so if we choose, we can avoid them? Not looking to trash these sellers, but rather avoid purchasing from them myself.

Based on the pictures the coin appears genuine to me. However, I think it was whizzed an retoned a long time ago. That MM is very difficult to fake and my only concern is how sharp the date and MM are. It could be they whizzed the heck out of it and smoothed the portait in the process. The coin appears to have once been corroded....and probably whizzed to remove it.
Poor old guy, I think you jumped the gun with a fake accusation...but I've been wrong before. I would have taken this to a dealer for confirmation before I trashed the old guys rep.

I found this 1909-S MS66RD coin on ha.com. It looks to be from the same die, note the MM position and style. This coin is also a good lesson for Lincoln collectors that try to grade these. It's a common mistake for people to think there's wear when the cheek is flattened and the hair above the ear is not well defined. The 1909-S is well known for these weaknesses. This is definately a mint state coin:

If you go to the main forum page and click on the one that says auction with the ebay ecrater heritage title in there at the top theres a thread for discouraged sellers. Theres also one for recommended sellers as well. There will also usually be threads that appear there and around the other forums from time to time about bad buying experiences and good buying experiences. Hope they help you out

Still no doubt in my mind that this is a cast counterfeit.

Thanks for the info basebal21--totally missed that on the main page. I have a lot more digging to do on here beyond the sub forums I have been concentrating on.

Since you already received this coin, you may want to try a few coin stores and ask them about it's authenticity. Or you could spend the money and sent to a TPGS. However, if fake you now have ta problem. IF you tried to send it back, the seller may say not the same coin I sent you. Quote: The seller is an old guy in his 80's (I've talked to him) and I don't know if he knowingly is selling these things. Remember anyone can say anything on a phone. Anyone can print anything for a sale on ebay. That seller could have said he was around when the built the Pyramids in Egypt and you just may or may not believe him. Could be a 15 year old kid for all you know. From the looks of that coin, I too think it's OK but not sure. Not sure how much you paid but if it was me, I'd send it back if possible. And just for your info, I'm 250 years old. 251 in November.
