This is my collection of 2000 $1 mules.I haven't found any but have purchased all of them.Most of them are good VF but there are a few EF and some aUNC .I've been concentrating on collecting these as I believe they have a lot of price growth potential,does anyone else agree?   |

I am very wary purchasing them. I ink there is possibly a lot more out there than people think. I have one but and probably wont be buying anymore. The appeal to me is the mint stuffing up so badly not the fact they may or not appreciate. Hopefully they do but I'm sceptical.

What a LOVELY collection stevo1962 Thank you for sharing this numismatic "eye candy". From my noodling efforts over the past year (no mules found  ), I would say the coins are quite scarce in circulation. The unusual means of their production, and their distinct appearance implies that they have appeal (certainly for me !). So that might imply "growth potential". The only "fly in the ointment" might be the fact that a number of people were actively collecting them at the Burswood Casino (an important distribution point for the "mule") during 2003-4. So it seems that some lucky "sandgropers" are hoarding quantities of their findings  . As long as these folk do not "flood" the market with the mule through panic selling  , then the price should reflect their uniqueness and scarcity, methinks. Squire Edited by Squire Wilson

I have been buying them from someone who has quite a few and they have told me that they will
trickle feed them onto the market which is a good thing as this will help to keep the price high.

And say they pass on and their family decides to liquidate the mules all at once? One person who has many many mules has been selling a lot of them over the past few months.
I do hope that prices increase and I think they probably will but I am just wary because there is always a chance they could go pear shaped.

I have found three in perth so far and since the first one I have noticed the ebay price keeping a steady rise. I wouldnt sell mine. No doubt my boys will one day. ? Probably as soon as they inherit my coin collectin. But they have a long wait! |

The 2000 mules are certainly a must have coin for the decimal and error collector, though with prices now at $400 up to over $1K, I think price has gotten ahead of supply. As enworb said, there must be people sitting on 10's to even 100's of them, and unless the market is trickle-fed, the current prices won't stay at these levels. I'd love to have one in the collection, of course, and seeing there's a chance of noodling one - even if it is a tiny chance, I'm going to go that way... Nice lot you have there, stevo, I have to say.. |

Ive just realise I've forgotten to say what a nice bunch of coins they are. The one in the middle on the far right seems to be very nice! I really like the mules as interesting coins.
