Buyer protection. Remember, you have to use tracking when it's over $100 to qualify. :-)

Are you sure Paypal isn't going to take it out of your hide (so to speak)? I've read a lot of complaints that the whole system is slanted toward the user, and that dealers are getting ripped-off.
Heck, look at the 2% credit for purchases rebate. We know where that must be coming from: The high fees.

Hmmm, I would keep an eye on your monthly statement. They may not have collected from you now, but they might at the end of the billing cycle.

ebay will probably send you a request through paypal to be reimbursed. If you don't pay they can take action in the form of limiting your selling and/or buying activity on their playground.

I fixed my signature line, thanks Senex, I should have researched it further, there are quite a few movie lines that that are not creditied to the originating source.

so here's what happened (I'm a new ebay seller so this all helped me too!) i sent a 1oz Canadian Silver Maple to American through parcel, I'm not sure if it was insured but when he got it he claimed it was cut open and the coin was removed and it was taped back together. I called Canada post and they said that his story is highly unlikely and they also said that if someone wanted what was in it, they would just take the whole envelope out of circulation. i offered him a 50% return prior to calling the post office but once I heard their side of the story I contacted pay pal. the buyer denied the 50% return but I got an email saying "we are returning in buyers favor" i called pay pal and they said after reviewing everything, paypal is covering this because its a legitimate case that can never be determined and both the seller/buyer can be lying

Why did you make a new topic about the same exact event?

Everyone, please turn your mind a bit. Maybe the buyer opened the package himself, sealed it back on by himself, then claimed it as open-package! The buyer did not lie if that was the case!

I am impressed PayPal did not resort to their "buyer is always right" position. It is quite possible they are very familiar with the "Someone cut it out of the envelope and then taped it up again" scam and decide to mete out a fair judgement.
