HI fellows, I know it's a tough question Some fellow collectors might say something like every note has its own beauty & eye appeal or there are multiple "handsome" notes & not only one! However, let's make it as a challenge and let's try to pick only ONE note from OUR collection which we think it should be awarded Miss/Mr. UNIVERSE (regardless how you call it!) For me, I find the MOST handsome note in My collection is: Hong Kong $10 - 1941 (Pick #236e) What about yours?! Cheers

A very nice selection and a toughie to reply to. I'll have to go through all mine but I have seen some that I would just love to acquire like the Spanish 100 Pesetas 1955(P#145). The reverse features one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen on a banknote.

Here's one of my favorites, though it's hard to pick the one best. Reunion P-56b Victor Schoelcher

Dave, what's the original date of the 5,000 Francs, and the date of the overprint 100 NF, please ? I have a French 10,000 F of 1957, and a 100 NF of 1959, but I haven't got the overprinted version that fell in between. But, that's a conversion factor of 100, and yours is 50 ... was there some difference between metropolitan France, and the Overseas Departments ?

This is one of mine, it isn't a particularly valuable note but the design of the lion holding the key to the bank of England is a brilliant design if you ask me. Also I like this one...I liked when British notes were are rather oversized. French notes also I think are nice, I have the set from the 90's which were brightly coloured featuring prominent scientists etc and I have always liked them.

The original note was issued in 1965, and then the overprint I posted was issued in 1967/1971 (depending on signature). Those overprinted notes from France are very expensive, I don't have any of them either. Before 1975, Reunion used the "Franc" but it was not correlated to the French Franc. They revalued their currency at 1/50 in 1967, and there are three overprinted notes, this is one of them. Dave

Dave M, thankyou. I hadn't realized that the colonial franc was not aligned with the franc of Metropolitan France.
David UK: nice fiver. What era, please ?

The fiver is a B-series fiver 1957-61. I also have one from 1961- which looks identical except the £5 symbols on the reverse then become outlines without the £5 being printed in dark ink.
They also designed a £1 note of the same design of which only a few are in museums because they never released the note.
The £5 is not a particularly expensive note but I have always liked its design.

I could select the UK £5 as my "second" favorite note. The way it was artistically designed (especially, the lion with the key), man, too bad the present Worldwide currencies lost their eye appeal Cheers

I don't know if this is my MOST "handsome" note or not, but when thinking about it, it might. A famous explorer in the Age of Discovery, who helped to explore Africa and South America. While a striking portrait is on the front, the reverse shows the best imagery: A map of Africa thus far explored, around the dangerous Cape of Good Hope, the ship in a churning sea, sails full from a blowing gale. Danger, Adventure, Exploration!
