I think this fits this category?

I thought it was interesting to find a coin from another country when it use to be a common wealth. It was a commonwealth to the U.S. from 1935 to 1946.

Let me know what you think!

These are pretty common and made of copper-nickel I believe. They were made in San Francisco as indicated by the S mintmark to the left of the date. Larger denominations were made from silver and in circulated grades are mostly valued according to the silver content.

Interesting and historical coin that could fit in either the USA or World Coin forums. FYI, here is a 50-centavo piece I bought recently, from the same year and mint.

I personally love these coins. I lived over in the Philippines for 2 years, and once I started Collecting coins, I was naturally attracted to the US/Philippines connection.
The US made coins for the Philippines 1903-1945(I believe those years)

Those coins were known to have been made from recycled shell casings..just as US pennies were that year. Yes, a US coin.

The 10, 20, and 50 centavos coins were made of .750 silver and .250 copper from 1935 to 1957. In 1958 the metal content was changed to nickel-brass.
