I found this in a roll of dimes. I do not know what name that describes this defect that is in tes in states. Is it worth saving? I am new at this and not sure what this is. Any posts on this would be helpful. Thanks

I added new pictures of this 1999p dime. I would like to find out what this type of error is called and if it is worth keeping. Thanks for any comments

Its pretty interesting...Im pretty sure its not PMD but I am unsure of how this would happen...The only thing I can come up with is very weird but big Die Chip...

Doubt it is a die chip as the bottom of the letters and the top of the torch are pressed into the metal. Possibly a problem with the metal of the planchet..its an odd one!

But right above the Torch it is raised...which means on the die it was incuse....I'm having problems coming up with something as to why the letters are like that....
Rest in Peace

My guess is some form of Die Deterioration.

It is just a damaged coin. Notice that the top of the reverse rim just above TES is flattened as well, this coin has been smashed by something.

If the metal is raised between and under the "T&E" I would also agree that it is some type of Die Deterioration...

I had picked out a number on post 1982 LMC's that had raised arc like areas under IGWT and was going to post photos on CCF to see what type of error they were, then my next edition of Coin World had featured what I had in the Collectors' Clearinghouse by Mike Diamond, and found my answer to what I had found...

The obverse is slightly Misaligned which might have a barring on it.I think there was unequal pressure on the dies when the planchet was struck.IMHO
