It's a relist. Didn't sell first time around at $1499 start price. I will wait until it gets to $9.99 start and put in a bid. But, of course, some bidiot will have snapped them up before then.

I have had the idea of doing the same thing (ie "Your bid is how much above face value you are willing to pay"), but have not looked into how that fits into the rules.

Quote:It is a way of getting around having to pay ebay fees on the face value of the note, which I actually agree with. But is this with in ebay rules? I think that listing is very deceptive.

That really is getting dodgy. The way I see it is the $100 is the investment made by the seller. They need to take it into consideration when deciding whether or not its worth selling. If someone sells calculators and they cost $100 each wholesale they must then sell them on ebay, taking into consideration the fees. How is spending $100 wholesale on a product you wish to sell any different to spending $100 on a note? I don't see a difference.

Trout, I think they have tried fairly hard not to decieve. The main listing title says "read the details" and the first part of the details describes clearly what they are intending.

enworb, The "that is the cost of the goods you are selling" point is exactly why I have not looked into it any further. Why I came up with the idea too: I have sold a $50 radar on ebay, and after all the fees there is really no point. I have another, that I would like someone who would like it to have rather than me spend it, but it seems wrong for ebay to get "listing fee", "final value fee", "paypay fees" all based on cost price of $50 (and possibly a risk that I come out behind -either have a starting price which covers the all the fees, but maybe not sell it and come out behind on listing fees, or start a 99c and risk selling below $50+fees), for me to effectively give something away.
