I've been hesitant to post this since I wasn't sure if it was a chicken or not. I've always assumed it was but cannot confirm it.

I think it's a Fantail Pigeon.

I wonder if the Norwegian 2 Ore might depict a Black Grouse. They are known and indeed hunted in Scandinavia. I know Krause has it as a Moor hen but I think they are wrong.

thai-vic, you are correct, it is indeed a Grouse, or a "Tiur" as they are known in Norwegian.

If you search for ancient coins from the city of Himera, many of them feature roosters. You can also search for 'gallo' or 'cock'. The auction results show high valued ones but I'm sure you can find cheaper examples. Many of these date to the 500s or 400s BC.

I will try to link an image from Classical Numismatic Gallery:

That's an amazing coin in terms of style, seeing how it's nearer to the pre-Classical era.

The 1953 and 1959 10 Sen coin from Cambodia has a nice rooster on it. I'll bet she would like to have a 1897-1914 France gold 20 francs as a pendant.
