Nice find, santafeboy!
And spruett001, keep plugging away. It's kind of like hunting half dollar boxes. You'll run into lots of skunks, but eventually your perseverance will pay off. I've had a very "dry" year so far in terms of my CoinStar silver... two dimes and a quarter so far - one each month. I was averaging about two silver coins each month last year.

They relocated the Coinstar machine at my primary grocery store to the inside by the registers... bad news for me since there was a lot less traffic in its previous location of the main entrance. I was told the machine got moved for renovations in the main entry area, so I'm not sure if the inside of the store is a permanent location or not. Despite these changes, I still found a 1916 penny on the ground in front of the machine! A young woman was cashing in change (she got $152 after fees so try guessing how much Coinstar took from her) and took all of the rejects but missed the penny that fell out- I grabbed it as soon as she was gone!

I haven't replied to this thread, or the now locked thread on the modern coins forum since December and I haven't found silver since last August. Broke the schneid today. Or leastwise my wife did. We went to the grocery together today and while I was waiting in the checkout line, she pleased my by checking the Coinstar. I saw her start looking, but then got distracted when my line moved to another register. When she came back I was pleased, to say the least. I can't tell for sure, but I think that's a 1912, but it could be an 1892 as well. Then comes Italy. A 1908 20 Centesimi. It's only worth a few cents, but wow. And, more and more foreign coins, some I've found since December, but many today as well. The best probably is the $5 Jamaica. Also a NYC subway token (no longer valid) and a Connecticut Turnpike token which may or may not be valid. This flattened thing has some Chinese Characters on it, but I have no idea about the origin. Korea? And the last batch: Since December I'd guesstimate I've found $5, or so, of regular circulating US coinage as well as the stuff above.

Awesome finds, BigAppleBucky! Your wife did good! The only Barber I ever find is the cute one who cuts my hair. As for me, nothing special INSIDE of CoinStars of late (not counting my error coin found OUTSIDE of the one last week), found about $1 or so of us coin today, and a bunch of foreign copper in the machine which gave me four silver dimes in two days late last December...

Yesterday's trip to the bank scored me $2.30 in Canadian change from the coin counter- a quarter, a nickel, and a 2 dollar coin.

Today, found a 1947 Roosevelt dime in the reject tray of the coinstar machine! First one in quite awhile! Good hunting everyone!

Today was an interesting day at the grocery store. I saw THREE people using the Coinstar machine, and there is some significance to all of them.
1. A guy is there for 5 minutes, didn't see how much he got, but instead of cashing his voucher in immediately, he does his shopping holding the cash voucher in plain sight. I got a nickel in the reject tray after he was done.
2. A middle aged couple was dumping change for at least 15 minutes, and ended up getting close to 300 dollars. The wife took all the rejects, but they missed a penny on the floor, so it wasn't a total loss.
3. 2 middle aged women are waiting behind the previous couple, and they have at least 10 coffee cans worth of change. They are still dumping change when I am checking out, and when I saw the screen, they got SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY NINE dollars. No joke. $689.40 to be precise. After fees, that's $70 down the drain. They didn't leave anything behind, but seriously, who in their right mind pays SEVENTY dollars to get their change counted? It's like taking a fifty and twenty dollar bill and lighting them on fire! Coinstar must have a HUGE racket going on since they rely on people to pay for the convenience of getting their change counted.
Also, on the way out, I threw some change I didn't want IN to the reject slot- a plastic penny, a Chuck E Cheese token, and 2 arcade tokens that I had no use for. I figure that if I've taken all this change from the reject bin, it's good to give stuff back once in awhile!
