I check the Coinstar at the Walmarts and SaveMarts every day. About 8 stores in town. Find stuff pretty regularly.

I was at a local bank and stuck my hand into the reject bin of the generic coin machine. I pulled out a handful of coins, including a bunch of plain old modern coins and the following:
1953-D dime
1936 penny
1976 Canada quarter
1993 Philippines 1 peso
2008 Trinidad and Tobago 25 cent
1988 Australia 10 cent
1993 South Korea 100 won
The silver and the wheat were especially satisfying finds.

No offense, but why would anybody bother posting about finding modern, common coins, much less posting pictures of said coins? I find regular change quite regularly but I don't see any reason to post about it. I only post here when I find something old, interesting or foreign.

A few months ago I found a 1964 dime in a Coinstar machine. The very next day I found a 1959 dime in the same machine. Maybe I should just start hanging out in front of Coinstar machines and check the reject bin every time somebody makes a drop.

No offense, but it seems you are trying to establish a new threshold for posting here -- coin(s) must be "old" or "interesting" or "foreign", can't be "modern, common coins", and set some threshold for "posting pictures" thereof. Under the "rules" you have set for yourself: 1) How old is "old"? 2) What makes a coin "interesting"? 3) What is "foreign"? 4) What is "modern"? 5) What is "common"? 6) What is the higher threshold for "posting pictures" (does it have to be EXTRA old, interesting or foreign)? 7) Do you consider that other readers may "see no reason" for posting about a particular coin you found before you post about it on this topic? |

I agree Bugo. I do not care to see pictures of 2016 or 2005 quarters. Nor a 2016 penny and a 2013 D dime.

Or if it were up to you, would you also put some kind of requirement as to age, entertainment factor or country of origin? I didn't realize there were such rules, so if I have stepped across some line for posting here - I apologize. |

I'm back!
Long story short, I went on a 12 day backpacking trip. While I was gone, the coinstars were checked a few times by family members:
2.07 euros
$1.37 canada
plastic quarter
1987 panama centesimo, my first coin from panama!
