Stopped by to check a CoinStar real quick on the way home tonight. Didn't find any US coins, but I found a ton of Canadian, including 6 Loonies and 1 commemorative. Plus a few other countries. Pretty happy either way!

Coinstar finds! is the topic. Not old, new, bent, silver, gold, steel, copper, foreign, dust, paper or anything else you might find in there. Coinstar finds! nss-52, if you find a cig butt in the reject bin take a photo and post it cause I would love to see it. Someones dead on the topic and gets treated like an idiot. Not right. Nice haul RainbowMom!

Im wrong and I will admit it. I thought he found it in the coinstar machine. But I still would like to see what has been found by people. Cig butt still would be on my list for finds in the bin. It almost is a danger putting you hand in the bin from all the "stuff" thats in there besides coins. Sometimes my age shows how quick I am to react to something. MY bad.

Quote: man2004 Posted 07/14/2017 01:48 am How do you find coins in Coinstar machines, etc? I've been looking in reject trays, change trays, etc. They are always empty. Is there a trick to this (stalking people dumping change, buying junk food)? Mainly just keep looking. You'll hit eventually. It's like fishing. When you do hit, remember the time, place and conditions. On my best machine these are the best times for me: 1. Busy weekend afternoons - probably hit one time out of three or four. 2. Busy late afternoons or early evenings - probably hit one time out of five or six tries. 3. Early mornings - probably hit one time out of thirty. Not productive, but it's when I do most of my shopping. Lucky for me, my wife goes in the afternoons and I tag along or ask her to check. Other machines are less productive. At a Coinstar in store a mile away from my best source, I've hit about three times in four or five years, and only once something good. I try at machines further from home, but have only hit a few times. The few times I've been travelling and checked out of town machines, I've been skunked.

Had my first silver since July 3 yesterday. Found most of these yesterday at around 4:30PM: Thought the worn down dime was interesting. Since July 3 my wife and I probably have found about a dollar's worth of common change as well. I've put the bus tokens in my car and will give them to someone waiting for a bus. I think they are still valid. My daughter brought these back from a trip to Bolivia. I believe she bought some of the older, out of circulation coins from a vendor. Thought I'd mix 'em in here. Doubt any have particular value, but they are interesting. Oh, one more Bolivian coin and a medal from a trip she took to the White House a few years ago:

Had an almost 3 week drought until Monday when I got 2 quarters, a nickel and 2 pennies. No keepers so they went into my change jar and will eventually go back to CoinStar when my iTunes account draws down.

Found a 1968 Canadian dime in the grocery store Coinstar today! Was pretty excited about a possible silver find until I weighed it. Still a fun find though. Only my second find at a Coinstar. I found a 1980 something Canadian cent and a US dime a few weeks ago.
