atticguy Pillar of the Community United States 1373 Posts	Posted 04/11/2018 8:24 pm I haven't had much success lately, but my wife was making burgers for dinner today and asked me to run to the store and get some hamburger buns and a tomato. When I walked into the grocery, I checked the Coinstar first and found an AU 2017 quarter (Ellis Island), three Lincoln cents, and a Canadian nickel; 33-cents! The pennies were dirty and no surprise, but I can't figure why the quarter got spit out. Oh well, I guess someone wanted me to have it. PS: The hamburgers tasted great! Report this Post to the Staff

I visited a neighboring city yesterday, and found $9.96 in U.S., along with a 2010 Canadian Quarter... no silver, however, but I found a very tough quarter - the 2009-P Northern Mariana Islands coin! It was the last coin needed for my modern quarters set. It is only the second one I've encountered. CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! I live in a lower income area and most people here are concerned about every penny they have, which makes finding rejected coins in the area Coinstar machines difficult. I DO find an occasional coin or two, but not very often. I've been thinking (which my wife says scares her) about taking a trip now and then to my more 'affluent' neighborhoods to check coin machines there to see if my searching can be more successful. I know the gas money I'll spend for such a trip will always overpower any findings I might achieve, but I've never tried this for profit; mainly it's for entertainment. Report this Post to the Staff

atticguy Pillar of the Community United States 1373 Posts	Posted 04/14/2018 6:00 pm Well, today I had to go to my daughter's house to let her dog outside so on the way there and back home I stopped at FIVE new places to check out the Coinstars there. Result..............nothing! Then I decided to stop at my normal grocery stores; one a mile and a half from home and the second just 1/2 mile from home. I found two Canadian quarters at the first and a sole Canadian nickel at the second. This totally contradicts my previous post. I think I'll have to travel farther north to search. I've heard that Rochester is pretty ripe for the picking. Report this Post to the Staff
