My grandfather was a musician that played in clubs and bars throughout the 1960s and 1970s in central FL. Part of his nightly routine was to check the coin returns of all pay phones and vending machines in the facilities where he was performing for coins to add to his modest collection. One night in '65 or '66 he found a very nice 42/41 Mercury dime in a pay phone that was the star of his collection. Report this Post to the Staff

That silver quarter sure got the New Year off on the right foot... when I grabbed the pile of coins, I thought I heard silver, but I thought it was "just" another silver dime... And illegaltender congrats on your silver finds as well! I've been on a pretty good Coinstar roll myself ever since about two weeks before Christmas. It also doesn't hurt though that I'm searching more machines now. Today I found a pretty nice 1930 wheatie. CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years!
