I usually try to stay away from deals on Craigslist. My thing is if its too good to be true on craigslist then it is probably not true. I found an add on craigslist about a huge coin collection selling. One thing listed was many mint sets (1968-1981) Average was $5. I thought to myself that is a great price for each one but there are a few key sets in there like the 1970, 1973, and 1981 set for their NIFC coins. So I called him up and arranged a meeting place (Brought another friend of mine to watch from another vehicle) and he said that he knows that some sets are like 12-15 dollars each but he only wanted $5 for each one. I asked him how many he had and he said that he had 19 of them. I said that I will buy them all from him at that price. We met and I got 21 sets for $105 dollars 1968 (silver half) 1969 (silver half) 1970 KEY DATE NIFC HALF 1971 1972 X2 1973 X2 KEY DATE NIFC IKES 1974 1975 1976 (Missing the D part) 1977 1978 X2 1979 1980 1980 dollar souvenir set 1981 KEY DATE NIFC SBA1984 1985 and a small presidential series set with a silver half dollar I am very happy about this excellent opportunity I have been presented with. What is even better was that this was my birthday present for me.

I know you wouldn't take a chance asking where he got them. Sure is odd he sold them so cheap. Must need the money and that is one of the fastest ways to sell, craigslist. Good buy for sure.

Nice deal. I'm glad it worked out for you.
It could be that he needed the money faster than he wanted to spend the time to get a few more dollars out of them.

Hopefully, this is not a pile of stuff stolen from somewhere else and he's moving stolen merchanidise. If not, great deal!

I get an occasional deal off of Craigslist, it's rare but it can happen. Congrats on the good score!

That seems like a pretty good deal. Not so much less than normal that it seems stolen. And he knew the fair market value not like a thief.

I would check the 1970 set for a small date 1970 S Lincoln.
FYI - most coin shops I have been into pay a little over face for common (non silver) mint and proof sets.

A little more than face that is terrible. I bought a 1995 proof set for my gf and it was like $9 and he probably paid someone like $2 for that set :/
