IMHO, "Shotgun unsearched" Wheat penny rolls aren't worth it and are overpriced, so I have never bought one. However I've always been tempted to buy one just to see...

Has anyone ever had success with these, and if so, what did you get? Tell your shotgun roll story.

I'm really interested to see what you guys say.

Thanks!

There was a post about this not too long ago. Basically, as long as you know that you probably won't be getting anything stellar, you'll be happy with it. I got one once, and I had a blast seeing what I got. I got some Indian Head cents too. Get one if you like wheat cents and the bonus coin the put at the end, but don't be surprised if they're mostly just middling coins.

Going by what I've read and just plain old common sense I would say they are a rip off.

That's my listing! BTW, if someone wants some of these I can do much better on the price.

Thanks guys! I think I understand a little more now.
OldSkool-any luck selling these sets? It seems like an excellent idea, with wheat cents being so popular.

I have never bought one and based off others' experience, I probably never will.

Sellers usually "bait" buyers of these rolls by placing a 1916 Mercury dime or in some cases, I've seen 1909-S Lincoln Cents on each end, and the title "1916-D? 09-S V.D.B.?" Or, "found in my Grandmas attic" or some catchy lie. These rolls sometimes get stupid bids money wise and once the seller opens it, he finds all common junk inside. Don't waste your time on these ever. Sellers are snake oil salemen.
