How odd is this? The 7 is real weak, the top line is the only one present!

I don't know for certain but I don't think it is a rarity.

I can't say that I've seen it often but then I'm still new at this.

The thing is, I don't think it would be considered an error coin -- or at least not a valuable error coin -- because it is probably the result of a worn die or being Struck Through Grease.

The 'I' and half of the 'W' seem to have the same problem. Perhaps it is the result of a weak or uneven strike.

I'll be back to see what the experts say.

That's what is known as a " Grease Filled Die" where gunk and debris gets stuck in the recesses of the die over the course of its work. Only striking examples (missing whole words, large gobs of the design, etc.) are worth anything more.

This example, unfortunately, isn't worth any premium.
