This is a type 1 off centre: ring bored off centre, with a normal setting of the core. John may be thinking of the type 2, where the ring is normal but the core is offset.

Very nice and desirable.

That's a very nice error.. In Holland we call them "fried egg" error.. I've seen 2 Euro coins (bimetallic) with same sort error sell for big premiums..

edit: I would not call this a striking error.. It's more an planchet error.. The core is 'offcenter'.. not the strike..

Having someone serve me up one of these "Fried Eggs" would be plenty nice, this makes me want to go to the bank and start roll searching.

Thanks for posting your coin.

another toonie error but different coin, a teller asked today if I'd be interested in it - very sad about all the scratches though, any idea of value for one in this condition? And by reading above, I see this is also Type 1..

Thank you Canadian Paper for posting picture and John for helping me get a better sense of the value of my coin. I am not a collector and found this coin in circulation several years ago and kept it because I thought it was interesting. It seems it is worth more than I orginally thought.
Cheers
