I picked off an 1871 Indian Head penny at an Antique Shop. It was sitting in a tray with other coins. I paid $1. It was in good shape. Driving home I put it down on my center console because I was talking on my cell. It slid down into the console a disappeared. I only paid $1 so I am only kinda sick. It was stupid. It haunts me. I don't know if I will ever forget. I put a container in my car and will put my finds in there for now on. I will just have to work harder to find another pick and make up for it.

You have to find it, tear your car to pieces and try to find it... Your not going to find another 1871 Indian for a dollar again...

Now you know why it's so dangerous to be talking on your cellphone while driving! :-)

Imagine if the next owner of your car finds it, he'll be like "WOW, a FREE 1871 Indian Head cent!"

You would be surprised how much change that I would find in used car traded in when I sold cars. The older car the better for the silver coins. I kept a jar that would fill up quickly. Sometimes 15-25$ worth. plus all kinds of other things. So you better find that IH. LOL

People that work in auto junk yards find coins all over the place in cars that are junked. Unless you go looking for that coin, someday a junk yard person will say, look what I found.

Yeah, I highly recommend trying to find it. It does not take much to remove large pieces of the interior. Usually only a screw or two, I know many pieces on the inside of my car snap right on without screws. Just gotta know where to pry and pull. Just grab the service manual for your car, most of them are online. Good luck.

Don't look at it like, 'oh it only cost me a dollar'. Take the approach of, this is going to be my weekend adventure. Get in there and take a few pieces apart and use a flashlight. Plus if your car is like most used cars, there has to be a few McDonalds french fries down there just waiting to be set free.

The consoles come apart easy enough. Its getting them back together again. Had a few dimes slide through mine. It was an experience.

An 1871 IHC, yeah I'd be getting that back, no problem. Just unscrew the seat from underneath.
