Hi there, managed to rescue this from being melted by a friend because I hadn't got any aussie coins and bought it off him for £1.50

I'm no expert, is this worth anything above melt in such a heavily oxidised condition?

Superb strike, it appears uncirculated, aUNC at the very least. Does it have underlying cartwheel lustre? If it does on both faces you'd probably be looking at about $300.

It would probably be worth between AUD$50 and AUD$100 in my opinion

No underlying lustre, but great to know its worth a little and glad to have rescued it.

The lack of underlying lustre indicates the oxidation is quite extensive, so around $50-100 as stevo said would closer to the mark.
