I wanted to do something special for my 1000 post. So, here are scans of my 7070 type set. Thanks to all the wonderful people here at CC, I truly appreciate your willingness to share you knowledge.     Here are a few notes: 1. I had the missing Seated quarter, but it was a true hole filler. So bad I took it out. 2. Missing Dollar Commem will probably be the Eagle Commem. Maybe the $20 farewell to the Canadian cent coin would fit here. 3. I love my 20 cent piece. 4. I really enjoy my Trade dollar, with the single chop mark in the field. Been meaning to post this every time the discussion comes up. 5. Gotta do something about those Booker Ts. Will fill with Oregon Trail and Bay Bridge (with the Grizzly Bear). 6. I have several upgrades, but holding off until I figure out something better than a Dansco. 7. I'll be shooting for the 137 coin type set as a life goal. 8. At the end is a key I made in Excel. Been meaning to post this, too, when the conversation arises. CHEERS!!     |

AWESOME! Congrats, Drsandman2! How long did it take you to amass that what you have so far? That War Jefferson has some interesting PMD (so does the dime next to it) Any reason you chose KY for your Statehood Quarter? Why is there a token in the silver dollar section? Is the field on that Ike really blue? Or just a trick of the camera? |

Thanks CelticKnot, I believe the War Nickel to me a mighty strike through. If I'm not mistaken, I posted it here on CC a long time ago. I've been collecting since 1990, but haven't had the chance to really pursue the hobby until the last few years. I have no affinity for Kentucky, lol. I just got tired of the empty hole and reached into my pocket to fill it. That token is from the 1982 mint set I broke open to fill those modern slots. It is there because I don't own any Seated dollars! Yet! The field on the Ike is blue, very similar to what you see. On the reverse, that big smudge must be die grease. I cracked it out of the mint packaging, and looked that way before I set it free. |

Looks really nice. Nice to see that you put the effort into amassing a near-complete set like this. Also, I like that smiley party thing in the initial post.

Wow, I just noticed that my bust quarter is rotated!
And I'm still wondering why my 1838 Large Cent is so much smaller than the hole.

Welcome, Ark!!  That smiley party thing is do-able with tags or you can click the "Reply to Topic" link and insert them by clicking on them (left-hand-side). @Drsandman2, thanks for the explanation. I just always find it interesting to hear how/why people collect and their reasons for certain collections/items. The 7070 is obviously a VERY individualized collection so that one is a favorite of mine to ask on. Keep it up! So "mighty strikethrough" meaning not PMD? Wow, that's a huge blunder if so and nice one for your 7070! I haven't started my 7070 yet but I'd probably pick a state that I've lived in. Yet... there are so many. I guess I'd do the current one, TX. Yee-haw! :) Why is that field on the Ike blue? |

Very nice set. I like that you picked the kentucky quarter as well, I picked the same one and think its one of the best designs of the series.
I also have the same problem with my large cent, every time I open my album I straighten it and every time I check it the next time its upside down or sideways again.

There were so many variants of the coins throughout the years Dansco probably had to take the medium or largest it could have been and make the hole that size so all coins throughout the date ranges would fit. There were a couple coins in my album that I cut a safe-T-flip into small strips that would fit between the slides and I would bend them around the coins inside the holes to make them fit tight so they didn't turn because it bothered me to much |
