Apparently it was either PCGS or NGC

does Walter in Canberra offer a service ? He's very knowledgeable.
If you trawl the CCF archives, you'll find several examples of Australian coins graded by overseas experts, and the lack of knowledge is breath-taking.
I think TPG is all a bit of a yawn ... but I'm mostly interested in old, circulated coins.

I haven't heard anything (but here would probably be where I hear that kind of thing anyway).

Who did you hear it from?

Hi, would be interested to hear more about this. Has there been more information about a grading service opening an outpost in Australia?

Thanks for the info steve. The way they grade seems strange. Everything is graded with the prefix MS. There is no 50 or 55 grade but instead 53 and 57. The slab also doesn't look anywhere near as professional as PCGS or NGC. An australian flag and a nasty font with APCGS doesn't do it for me. I wonder who is behind it? Personally there would be no way id send a coin to them.

Comic Sans sans logo doesn't speak "professional" to me...

Maybe the AU53 baseline (3 notches higher) is intended to closer represent the tougher, more "Australianised" interpretation?

This is interesting...

I take it, the guy who owns the Gold and Coin shop is the guy behind this new grading service ? Just an educated guess since they are both in postcode 2444, Port Macquarie...

The website looks cheap and nasty to me..but if it kicks off, I guess it will be improved on later, since I'm sure opening a coin grading service is a huge gig...not to mention they are apparently going to "offer banknote grading also." Wow....

I mean to have credibility and confidence of the customer, I would have liked to known the grading process at least to some extent. Anyone of us, could post up a page showing a list of grades...

Lol they sell their own stuff! The whole idea of a third party grading service is that they are independant. The fact they grade and then sell the coins blows and credibility out of the water.

With Mathew.
After reading banknotelover's post I am starting to get cold feet about sending coins in.
It is all starting to look like a "Basement slobber" set up.
A bloody shame because I was excited with the prospect of having our very own Aussie TPG
