The seller wanted no less than $300. I bought it for $275. And I am taking it to ICCS for their opinion soon.
Hoping it is real and au-50 (or better), we'll see.

I hope its real also , but if not the dealer has to take it back ... as for grade I would say ICCS calls it either VF 30 or EF

Congrats BmOney, ...ahhh.. Newfoundland coins, I love them working on all my sets, I finished a couple but, the GOLD will have to wait for a while.
Yours is a great looking one though.

Thanks artdio and rock daddy.
This was the first time for me sending coins in to be graded.
Very happy with the result and I got to meet Scott in person.

I have a 1882 gold coin as well. My first. I'm from Ontario and got interested in Newfoundland coins because I love coins and these ones are rare. It is in very good condition as far as I can tell. I would like to have it graded, but I'm not sure where to go for an accurate appraisal. I live in Hamilton. Are there any good appraisers here, or do I need to go to T.O.?

to ccf!
You can mail it to ICCS in Toronto, or cccs in Montreal.
You can drop it off in Toronto to ICCS. You should call them and have them mail you a submission form first.
