Depends: Do you want to keep 'em, or sell 'em? You have accumulated them with a lot of effort but with an eventual profit motive, I suspect. That is a dichotomy in itself.

The best 'middle ground' philosophy I can think of, is to sell them at an opportune time when you need the money, or when your interests and motives have moved on.

On the way through, perhaps you could build date / mm sets with them, perhaps keep one and sell the rest.

The problem is most coin stores wont buy them if they have been through the coin counter. I am going to save mine untill next august our big local annual coin show is then. I am going to try and trade them to one of the "bin guys". those and some nifc halves. I have a guy IV traded nifc's to. Last time I dumped his rejects. Next time we deal I'm gonna save the others to try and unload that way. I figure 1$ per coin in trade is fine, gonna try for 1.50 per coin for the proofs. They put them in bins and the kids sit down and look through them to fill their books.

I agree with trout1105 about offering for sale to folks here on CCF. I have managed to obtain a full set of clad Kennedy half dollars including impaired proofs from folks on CCF.

Since I find mine in rolls, they are impaired. I keep one of each and spend the rest!

Without the help from members here on CCF I would have never been able to complete my set of non proof Kennedy halves
Looking forward to doing the same with the proof set

I'm not attached to the impaired clad proofs and have sold them on ebay where they are likely to fetch just a buck each. I have kept the silver-clad proofs but of course those are much harder to find.

If I ever found one, I would keep it. I think proof finds are fun.

A fellow canadian member on here I have been trading with is getting ready to get a bunch of my clad proof finds. I will still have plenty of extras.

I agree with trading with others if you can. I completed my kennedy with proofs dansco with about 95% box finds. I traded for about 10% of it. Big Props to bish and sd crow for trading with me to get the 1992 and newer modern 90% silver proofs.Thats the stopper from completeing the set from rolls, thanks to those 2 guys I only had to purchase 4 of those modern 90% coins.

I had to purchase the clad 79 type 2, 1997,1999 one of the 2000's, and one from the 80's, the rest were found, and they are good looking coins to.

If it isn't silver, I mark it with a big, thick sharpie because it's worthless. I once got this big roll of 2009's and of course I marked them so some other poor fool wouldn't think they were silver.

Just kidding. I almost never find proofs, so they are always a nice find for me.

I keep most of them if I come across any proofs. I have more than 500 now. I just need to find a Canadian member here who is interested in JFK proofs so I can trade for the early Canadian nickels and cents that I have hard time to acquire from US rolls.

Yinzi50, are you looking for circulated condition nickels and cents to fill date sets? I'm a Canadian who collects US coinage...
