I don't really like how the Coin Vault markets coins. They put so much emphasis on VALUE. They act as if that is the only thing that matters. We need to collect what we like and thats what is important. And if it happens to have monitary value, thats fine. It really boils down to our personal value your collection has to you.

The worst part is that the values they quote are wrong! Then there's the gold-plated quarters that they market as BU. Sorry, but those coins are now altered/damaged and only worth face value. There are so many problems with the whole Coin Vault thing that it would take hours to list them all. Please don't get me started! The only good thing that I've seen come out of it happens after someone gets burned. If that person then seeks out forums such as this one or buys books to educate themselves, then Coin Vault has served a purpose, hopefully at not too expensive a price...

Very well said Susan, and the coin vault is not the only tv coin show that does this they are all alike.

I like when they quote prices on the same coin in a higher grade. "This coin in MS 67 sells for $2000.00, and you get 10 of them, do the math, in MS 67 they are worth $20,000 you are getting it all for only $699.00" WOW WHAT A DEAL, the poor people taken by these thieves I fell sorry for them. Coin Vault is outright stealing! Tony

I had a man come into the store a while back and during our conversation he said he had just purchased a complete 21 coin Silver Eagle set for $1000.00 from coin vault, I asked if they were graded he said no in a Dansco album. I told him I could have sold him one for $375.00 and he was very upset, I told him never to buy from the tv coin shows, watch them and then go to a coin dealer and get the items he wanted for 1/2 to 1/3 of what they sell them for.

I watch them just for the knowledge on the different type of coins. If I'm interested in something I'll pull out my coin price guide and after that I've yet to buy one from them.

Half of the stuff they say is complete nonsense. Don't believe what they say.

Its interesting to see the new coins and the so called "hoards" they come up with. I agree everything I have seen on that show is two to three times more expensive than it should be. I'm not really sure how those guys can sleep at night. Although the "shouting" guy is pretty entertaining at times.....

The sooner new coin collectors realize *there are no short cuts* the better off they'll be.

I have been very tempted to buy some of the "deals" that I have seen on TV in regards to Morgan dollars; after all a guy who can open a BU roll and grade the first coin as MS64 or better within 5 seconds is much better than I, or more full of male bovine excrement than I. Even with a "30 day money back guarantee" you loose because it would take longer than that to get it graded, then there would be a situation as how do you prove that is the coin you received from the TV place? I did bite one time, bought some Ike dollars in BU and Proof, got the Bicentennial proof sets which was not what was promoted, got permission to return them and my credit card was promptly credited back with the correct refund, but never again! Has anyone ever bought something that was considered "a good deal?" (especially the BU Morgan offers they have). PS. I the show is on as I like to see what is going on and my wife walks into the room she immediately says, "You've got to get those people off there!" (especailly when there is a man and woman on the show yelling and screaming about value)

I was watching it this morning as well. It is entertainment. But it still really burns me up at times when I hear some of the comments that are made. They will get theirs in the end. I hope.

My Mother-in-law got into the same kind of deal as Coin Vault, only she was receiving a monthly subscription of Presidential Silver Double Eagles. When she passed and we were dealing with her Estate we found these. I took one to find out what exactly it was and it is clad with a thin silver overlay. We found probably 30 or more of these. They look good, but really aren't worth anything. I can't help but wonder how much of her SS check they actually got from her. It's a shame!

Except they might be EF, like my four. I fell for the "biggest selling item" ploy. Their customer service kid couldnt care less. A lack of prepaid return postage and instructions is what had me keeping them. Was told I had to write another address for instructions on the postage.

Talk of all these innocent folks getting ripped off, it makes me wonder if maybe these dealers should be regulated by some sort of a watchdog group. I guess doing so would raise another whole host of problems though.
