I got another call Thursday afternoon. He says " are you interested in nickels too?" I says yep. He says the same guy brought in 10 rolls.....some marked, 1962, 1964, 1968. And some others not marked. As well as 30 rolls of pennies, some in plastic coin tubes. Well I made it to the bank today.

17 rolls of BU pennies in clear tubes, 1962, 1964 and 15 BU 1974, but a few have 1964 coins on the underside showing so who knows, maybe they're mixed.

Going through the '64 nickels I found an error coin. The beaver is almost completely bald like it had been shaved.

Now I know some will say PMD, but when I post it in the error coin section you'll see that the coin still has full mint lustre. (Mind you, with my photographic ability, who knows!) The 12 sides are weird as well and I will try to photo thos as well.

I truly think that I've found something unique here. Pics should be up in about half an hour.

Did you check the 1964 nickels for the XWL variety?

1962 and 1964 5-cent coins are commonly found as weak strikes. Sounds like you found a nice one!

First thing I checked for SPP. You should have a peek at the 1962 error coin I posted in the error forums

:) They are still the highlights of my roll hunting experience.

I have not found much at all over the last 8 months or so. Unfortunately in my area...there are only so many banks and they cycle coins from one branch to another as needed. I believe I have started to encounter old dumps from different banks. There are a few CRHers in my are that I know of. The next closest large city is 3 - 3.5 hours away. I think it is time to make a road trip and hope for some fresh stock to search.

I would love to make a score like the OP has made. good pick-up.

Cheers
