Hi all,I've just gotten back into collecting after a long hiatus and am going through some stuff I had. I picked this Washington up back in the 1980's for I think about $10. It was graded MS65 and today has a Red Book value of about $45. I'm not an expert once you get into the MS grades so wanted to get your thoughts on actual grade and value. The luster is really strong and the pic really doesn't do it justice. Thanks, Kevin

Very nice. Couple light bag ticks on the obverse. NICE hair detail. Excellent breast feather detail. Cannot really tell in this photo about the detail of the tail feathers. Even in these pictures, VERY good luster.

Believe the minor ticks will keep this at MS64.

On the other hand, with the super clean fields, sharp strike, and luster....yep....I would venture 65.

I'm not sure how sharp the tail feathers should be but they are all easily individually visible. Thanks for the info! I'm assuming Red Book is correct about the value then..

Red Book is higher than retail. Completed auctions from the numerous online sources and Numismedia Fair Market Value usually provide a good market price.

But, make sure you compare apples to apples. The COIN must be in X grade, even if in a slab.

Yep, I would go 65. Those two nicks I see are not enough to bring it down to 64 IMO. As acloco said, great detail, nice crisp strike. Beautiful coin.

MS 65 lists at 40 on Coin Worlds site.

A few nicks but not super distracting ones. I could agree with at least MS65. Nice coin

I think it was a 66 until the little marks.
It's a 65, but the RedBook value is higher than it's market value.

That's really harsh lighting, so for me it's a little hard to tell. I believe the 64-65 range is correct though.
