Saturday I went to the bank, just signed up with a new bank that is A LOT closer than my original one, I got a box that looks like this (picture) so I go back today, and got another box that looks the EXACT same, it's almost as if the previous owner submerged all his coins in water for a few weeks and then rolled them, the earliest ones I could find were around 1975 (+/- a year or two) and the newest were 2011, what could have happened, two boxes. 100 rolls, 5000 pennies, ahhh

Their hoard was flooded, so they cashed in.

Can also be a storage issue from the company buys rolled coins from.

Probably someone emptied out a city fountain or wishing well and rolled them.

I agree with tuleja, probably fountain coins. I have gotten several rolls full of coins like that but never entire boxes.

all 3 of those could be true (tueja) yours makes PERFECT sense. they have to empty it eventually, would make sense because I with-drawled 50$ and every penny was like that :) thanks!

I've had lots of boxes come with coins like that. And not just penny boxes either. Those are most definitely all from the same person/place.
I'd like to venture a guess that a lot of coins were found in basement and became corroded from the humidity in the area they sat for some unknown amount of years.

I've had nics that were terrible, boxwise. Seemed they were exposed to exhuast maybe. I hate those things.

I've seen that more often than I'd like. Keep the hand sanitizer handy!

Fountain coins are a possibility, but it seems like a large amount of them for that. More likely I would say a flooded or damp basement hoard cash-in seems a more likely scenario.

Hand sanitizer or just heavy duty soap after you're finished sorting/pouring through your sorter.
