OK, I got the 1818/7 in the mail today. As many of you noted, it was a sweet looking coin. Let me tell you, the pics DO NOT do it justice! This is the best looking Capped bust in this household. (VACookey may not get it. Which would of course end up in divorce. ) She is an O-101. Large first 8 and no die crack. I tried to capture the beauty, and came close, but not quite: Short of an MS64 with killer toning, I don't know that I can beat this one. Edited by smokeriderdon 11/17/2012 8:27 pm

Just my Two Cents here but I see wear on the cheek and bust and motto.. and some hairline scratches on the obverse not to burst your bubble dude, this is a great coin with an awesome variety, but I am thinking like AU 50. not to mention a lot of rim dings

A beautiful example and bold overdate. I remember what you paid. I don't normally collect classic silver halves..I'm jealous :-) Gets me thinking how many people back in the day, if any, actually noticed the overdate or knew what it was?

Quote: but I am thinking like AU 50. not to mention a lot of rim dings I don't think he was saying this one was a MS-64, he was just saying he doesn't think he will be able to top its eye appeal unless he found a MS-64 with killer toning. I don't think he ever thought this coin was a MS coin

EXACTLY what Bryan said. Actually, I was thinking it was just shy of AU. XF45 or so. Mainly due to those dings. vermont...exactly! But people don't really study their coins unless they have reason to. And yeah, I am thinking I got a LOT better of a steal than I originally thought. mds, that's exactly what VACookey and I thought. LOL
