Obverse - Roma (depicted here in about 20-60AD). Roma isn't depicted like this on other roman coins - this is a coin from pergamom under roman control so is slightly different.

Reverse - Youthful bust of the Roman senate - this is what I like, a youthful bust representing a whole class of older males. I have never seen another roman coin with a depiction of the senate.

The PMD or dirt or whatever it is, made this coin really appealing to me. Combined with the nice thickness of it, makes me feel like it is a pirate coin .

I am a fan of my Spanish coins from the mid 20th century. When I first started collecting, I did not know about the date marks in the small stars that were present on the coin. When I learned of this, it was like a treasure hunt going back through them all to find out what I had. I also really like my 2012 glow-in-the-dark dino 25 cent coin from Canada.

Specksnyder, what is the tell tail sign of a Henning nickel? is it just the 0.2 gram difference in weight? I had never heard of this coin until I read your post and got interested. Thanks for the spark of interests!

Nope, can't narrow it down to just one, sorry. I am rather fond of the one I use for my avatar, however:

Playing favorites gets harder as the collection progresses and the choices increase, but I am still partial to this one:

@GR58, I do gaze at the proof half often but I would do the same if I had a 1932 $10 gold eagle. That coin still is on my needs list.

Lots of people with trouble choosing just one coin, maybe we need to revisit a top 12 thread again. I remember threads on 20th century and 19th century but I don't know how to link them.
