No clue why they thought an ordering limit was needed...it won't last long and in a couple of weeks you will be able to order as many of these retreads as you want...
Just my opinion but, as mentioned previously in this thread, it would be a better investment to buy two C & C sets for a bit less money and get a couple of S proofs with the 2nd lowest mintage of ANY proof...or get a W proof with a mintage of over 850k in the new set. Your choice...

The ordering limit could be there way to try and drum up interest in the set but as far as I understand nothing in this set is unique to this set which doesn't bode bode well for premiums in the future.

I bought my two sets. I figure the worst I'm going to do is break even if I lose $20 I'm not gonna sweat it. I love the US mint and I will buy almost anything they produce.
Plus, I just like the looks of it.

throwback -- I agree it's a good-looking set. Curious to hear what you think of the packaging when in hand.

I do like the OGP but the Quarters can be bought on ebay for $32 and I have the Eagle, It is only a matter of time before the OGP will be available on ebay. You can assemble a Set a lot cheaper then $150 Because there are no coins preventing assembled sets I Predict that they will be on ebay for a lot less then release price soon

I would buy this if they went back and created one for 2010 and 2011. Why would I want a set that starts during the third year of the new quarter series? I also agree with many others that they should have picked a new ASE to include in the set.

Quote: You're just the kind of collector they are looking for. That seemed kind of snide. Some of us just like to collect uniquely packaged sets despite the fact they may have no unique coins. Quote: #2 ......because I have all the Premier sets....all the Prestige sets ....and all the Legacy sets .
Some day ( not in my lifetime ) they will be worth something , like the old PCGS Doily Holders or the old Regency Holders

I love the Limited Set's packaging. Just beautiful! I already have all the coins, though. 2012-W Proof ASE at $59.95, and the Silver Proof Set at $67.95. Total = $127.90. Oh, and that includes the Proof Cent, Nickel and the five Golden Dollars not included in the Limited Set. Which means even at retail Mint prices, the Limited Set should have been $119.95 (leaving out the Cent, Nickel and Golden Dollars in the standard Silver Proof Set). And I have two Making American History Coin & Currency Sets, with (as Foxwoods Man said) "the second-lowest mintage Proof ASE to date" (and very nice packaging, complete with the "150" $5 note!). Two at $72.95 each, total = $145.90 The Limited Set seems like a way to capitalize on gift-giving season, so I may end up receiving one of these for Christmas (and it might still be available from the Mint by then! )

I picked up 2 sets for fun (ship date 12/28). I get it guys, this set is not very popular... But, does anyone know why the heck they keep changing the ship date on this set? I'm semi-new in buying direct from the US mint, and the 2-coin ASE SF set sold 250,000+ sets and only had 3 separate ship dates (and they supposedly had to mint to demand on that set). Well, this 2012 proof set has changed ship dates about 6 times now and all the coins in the set have already been minted? Any help on this one? Erik

talkcoin, Maybe you already saw it but now the ship date is 1/20/13. I don't know if that is just for new orders or all orders.

Mine are still showing 12/30 as the ship dates.

I stopped by the Union Station US Mint kiosk on my lunch break today. I picked up two of the Coin and Currency sets. I figure in the worst case scenario where all 100,000 of the allowable mintage sells out, the 2012-S ASE Proof will still be one of the lowest mintages of the series. Very convenient how the Mint operates a kiosk at Union Station: you can avoid paying shipping fees and you have the chance to examine most types of coins for sale before you buy them:) The only drawback is that they are only permitted to sell products that do not have household ordering limits; so the selection is somewhat limited. Still, if you live or work in the DC area,it may be worth stopping by and checking it out.
