Quote: after the 28th of December To me, that is marketing language. The keyword is "after". That could mean ANY date AFTER Dec 28. That is a very non-committal statement.

regarding ngc and pcgs grading fee for one coin around 25.00 but the shipping and insurance is around 60.00 plus you have to join a membership fee or you use a authorize dealer. you need a 1000.00 coin to make it worth grading in the us services.

Quote: What surprises me is that they didn't sort, select and package before selling 3 activities: that's too much of too intensive work. Probably, prohibited by their unions unless a week break is provided after a day of work.

For those that bought the gold coin(s), has anyone noticed on their credit card, if the Mint placed a "hold" on the amount on the card? ie. if you spent $1000, that your available credit is lower by a $1,000 - but not charged on the card until the coin is shipped.

They probably put a temporary charge the day I bought the coins but it was removed a few days after like all the other coins I order from the mint. Avaiable credit is not lowered after it's removed until it comes back.

Had a CC reserve when I first ordered the gold coin but it was lifted about a week ago.
The 5 Penny sets have been on and off my cc several times as a reserve.

Coinsplus, thanks for posting that link. I bought the set of six hand selected and I expect that they'll be much higher grade than the coins in that auction. A couple of them appear to be VF with the rest looking to be EF. That buyer paid more than I did so looks like for those of us that bought these might have made a solid purchase.

The price is still well below the premium 6 coin set that is selling for $12,000. We don't know what the quality of the coins sold by the mint is. It could be the same, worse, or better than the coins shown here.

There's 2 1912 $5 and 1 1912 $10 gold coins at house of stamps in the square one mall (Mississauga). The guy is asking $675 and $1275. He claims "they are the originals, not the ones that were just re-stamped". I said "do you mean re-released?". He said "I don't know about that?". That's good selling tactics, misleading customers.
