I appreciate what you've pointed out and I apologize for any confusion we caused you.

Hayden, you're using a stock photo in a deceitful manner and in direct violation of ebay rules. Your claim "the coin you see is the coin you get" is disingenuous.

And, regarding you crying about the image and copyright, posting it here is a fair use. But, you knew that.

I'm going to go ahead and ask you all to take a deep breath while contemplating the term "perspective."

This made me chuckle for some reason but I agree.

That said MCM would have been better off with a simple apology. Theres not really anything to save face with and I dont think anyone would stop doing business with them just because of that. But if they look bad from defending it some people may be turned off by that.

It is misleading and IMHO, unethical to use stock photos of any coin you are selling. You should be looking at the coin you are contemplating being purchased.

Here's my problem. If I were to use the same stock photo on 30+ different listings, multiple times over, I would get no warnings. I'd just log on one time and they'd all be gone.

I report these and they get "an email to the account manager."

Now Hayden just read that, and likely got "the email" since he's here now.

But here's what he says... "We will take a look at re-wording our stock photo language to be more concise." ... He's basically thumbing his nose at all of us saying I'm not going to stop doing it, just make it more clear. Off to find Laura Sperber's email address. Maybe I'll send her this link too.

A note to Modern Coin Mart: I've read some good things about you here. I'm thinking of doing business with you. I will be following this post.

Well said Scubu. I've actually had listings removed because they were the same thing when I had two of the same commemorative and used different photos but wasnt allowed to sell them at the same time unless I did it with the multiple available option. I get they sell more and will get special treatment but a simple I'm sorry would have gone a long way. Stock photo or not, at the very least if the coin pictured is sold and the new owner asks you not to use that picture anymore that picture should be removed
