What date is it?

If its not too valuable then I would give it a go with olive oil on the end of a cotton bud. Being very gentle of course. I reckon that would get rid of most of the green around the legend but the spot at right behind the base of the crown and just under the front side of the collar look quite developed and probably wont come off.

Why yes I can! One of our members has developed a compound known as Verdi-care and it works great. See this thread.

It can be purchased here. But not sure if they ship outside the U.S.

I can personally say that Verdi-Care works great on coins such as the above.

Hey Stevo, whatever method you do end up using, would you be as kind as to put up an "after" shot, along with how you did it?

Wizard does ship outside US. I checked and a 60ml bottle of Verdi-care ($15.99) will cost $51.02 posted. That's USD plus whatever your card provider charges for an international transaction!

Makes it a tad expensive.

I have had no luck finding anyone with a sample in Australia. I am keen to try it for myself.

Thanks to steve I won this coin and it arrived this morning. Most of the green seemed to be pvc goo so it got acetone for two sessions of 20 minutes. THe obverse came up all right and I'm happy with it. The reverse is a bit of a dog though, weakly struck and with those little corrosion spots around the centre. I think its gVF overall. Its certainly an upgrade from what I had.
