So my bosses wife was cleaning house and found these old coins in a drawer. Knowing I'm a coin collector she.brought.them to me and asked about them. I went esstatic when I saw them as I have none of these in my collection except the steel cents. 1845 large cent in G condition 1886 Seated Liberty dime in F condition 1893 columbus commerative half dollars 2 in XF and 1 in F condition 1944S 50 centavos phillipines .75 silver in VF 1944D 20 centavos phillipines. 75 silver in VF 1942 2.5 escudas Portugase .65 silver inVF 1942 aussie six pence. 92.5 silver would be XF but has a hole from a necklace near the top. 1942 british six pence. .5 silver in F condition 1959 1 deutsche mark with a possible die crack in XF condition idk bout silver content on this one. 1943 steel cent 1 in F the other in G condition. The best part? They were free. I tried to pay her $40 for them but she.insisted that I just take them and give them a good home. Enjoy the pics folks. They are from my phone and not the.greatest, but best I can do. . I've been waiting all day to get home and show you guys. Let me.know if you think I overgraded any of them. Still tuning my skills. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Thanks guys. Some of them have a little crud on them. And one of the half dollars has a tape.mark on the back. I know cleaning coins is taboo, very bad. But I've heard that mild soap and water, without rubbing the surface can clean light build up without damaging patina or the coin. Any thoughts on that?

Tape residue can be easily and safely removed with acetone and a Q-tip; minimal rubbing please, to avoid surface hairlines. The 1 mark coin is German; it's copper-nickel, NOT silver. Maybe you could surprise your benefactor with a box of chocolates or something sweet instead of cash, as thanks for a mighty 'sweet' gift.

Very very nice! One of my next coins is gonna be the Columbus! And you just got 2 for the best price, + a bunch more! Congrats!! That's awesome!
As for cleaning them, obviously cleaning is a no no, but plenty of people have mentioned that an acetone dip will remove tape and such without affecting the coin or any remaining luster at all and it's market accepted and wouldn't warrant a details grade. I don't know.. I think that may work better than soap and water, but then again, I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm this?
