I've been looking for a 1996 Silver Eagle. What's a good reasonable price to pay for one that hasn't been graded or slabbed?

It's all so personal, isn't it? And we're all gambling on the lower-end coins returning a nice premium. jakedacc has a point that I tend to stick with. I think of myself as a collector with my MS64-graded Morgans, and I think of myself as a (small-time)investor when I buy ASE's. But I do sneak in a proof ASE or silver-proof set here and there because they are so beautiful and are collectible coins.

They seem to run about 50-60 on ebay and more expensive than that on a lot of the websites.

Exactly nothing wrong with doing both, just realize that there are differences.

It's all good, isn't it basebal21? I know you like the ASE's, too.
