hi all,

just throwing these out there to see if any one can help with a grading. the top row of the photos is from a scanner and the bottom row is from a camera.

Cheers - Geoff

The photos are too small and bright to offer any accurate grades but they all look like nice presentable coins though.

Great looking Florins..

I have been saying that a scan doesn't do a coin any justice, look at the difference in the photo,

a photo will make the coin look more natural/better But a high res scan will show up every single defect in a coin.
I personally scan a new coin for my collection and if I cant find anything significant I will then use my usb gizmo to have a detailed look,to make sure.
It may just be me but I find it easier to get an accurate grade this way

A scan cannot hope to show the same depth as a photo, the only advantage a scan has is that lighting is fixed. Something which can be achieved through the flash of many cameras.

Thanks guys,

i have not mastered the camera thing yet, that is why I did the scans to show what trout would describe as "warts and all" and the photos to show the luster if any.

i do agree that the camera makes the coin look better as can be seen in the 1951 federation.

just out of interest, is this any better for an approximate grade?

Those are better but could be larger still. If that coin is significantly lustrous I would say its close to UNC as I cant see any wear or significant impacts.
