I usually avoid basement slabbers like a plague but I saw this last night on the bay and was able to get it for only $5.

1) What do you think NTC (Numistrust Corporation) gave this coin?
2) What do you think this coin would be graded by a reliable TPG? Be honest!

Thanks again for your time!

From ebay guides:
" Watchout!! When you purchase a coin that has been graded and slabbed by NTC you ARE buying an overgraded coin. I paid many hundreds of dollars for a "rare" Morgan dollar from the late eighteen hundreds that was minted in New Orleans. It was graded and slabbed as a MS67 by NTC. It should have been worth thousands but it wasn't. It was worth about 75 dollars!! OUCH!! It was grossly overgraded ( it was actually a MS 63 )."

I cant grade these worth a darn, but hope this helps (or not).

you would like to think that it's a low MS w/FB grading but I am not sure what a PCGS or NGC would say due to what looks like fingerprints to me on the reverse...that might not be natural "mint state toning" but rather someone's greasy paws leftovers that cause that tarnishing over the course of time...thats why we wear gloves!

I will guess those fools at "NTC" told you it was an MS67 w/FB

I am saying CH AU GEM++ with finger grease, not mint state toning...

keep in mind I am not that good at this and learning myself so no offense meant!

Yep I'm in the NTC grade of MS-67FB at least, they really are a basement bottom grading company from what I've seen in my past with coins in their holders at shows. Always sad to learn of people being dupped into paying close to retail for them when the coins are obvioulsy a lot worse that they represent them to be in their holders from any current market standards.

Today at a top TPG company? Maybe MS-64 tops. I don't see any wear from breaks in the luster, the spot of carbon on the obverse is troubling and will turn even worse over time I think. The coin looks like a technical MS-65/66 save for the spot, that will keep it down almost 2 points IMO. The bands look split but not fully rounded enough to make FSB, maybe a FB designation however.

NTC actually had it in a MS66 FB slab

When I bought it, I was thinking it was in the MS-63/64 range with a chance of being an AU-58 slider.

Nice score as long as shipping was not 10 dollars.
