There have been a few of these notes on ebay with various elements "missing" (from just the Queen's face to the whole side)over the past week or so. They seem to have come out of the woodwork just for Christmas. Pertinax - acetone can be used to remove the printing (wording and colouring) from Aussie polymer notes. Pedro

Thanks. There were some Australian 'error' notes in a Scottish auction recently.
I didn't see them otherwise I might have bid, but forewarned is fore-armed.
Thanks.

It's the same seller as the earlier one. I have this seller on my list of ebay germs. All details of previous sale of similarly treated $5 have disappeared from ebay, no feedback either way, not in his 'sold' items, simply gone. "Australian note $5 error? note is blank on one side 1995 polymer misprint Ended: Dec 09, 2012 00:03:39 PST Winning bid: - $255.00 [ 12 bids ] t***1 ( 375-100 to 499) -$255.00 Dec-08-12 19:29:04 PST" But what I found interesting is that he had been stung by another seller, and he left threatening negative feedback. Check his feedback left for others. Then just out of curiosity, check the feedback of the seller he threatened. A bit of poetic justice. They deserve each other.

Yep, looks decidedly dodgy Apple.
These sellers must be trying to fund their Christmas pressie purchases by manufacturing these "error" notes!

What a loser. That note is definitely acetoned as well.

Appleangel; when I saw that note (the $20 with the watermark) the other day, I was baffled & perhaps speechless. I can't see how this could be fake or genuine. I was just confused by it...hmm.

Okay, that $20 is acetoned. I just had a play & it's been acetoned on the signature side. The red watermark is printed beneath the serial number side & can be seen beneath the signature side. That's my new lesson for today! & I'm suppose to know about notes...I think I should get my note title taken away from me...what a sad day.

The prefix added with the word wit would be a good description of the seller and anyone who bids.

Prefix Dim perhaps Enworb ........ nah Or perhaps Half .... referencing of course the printing removed from the note But surely we will see the day that someone acetones BOTH sides ...... yes, rare Polymer blank!! That will surely give rise to the Graham Kennedy crow call .....

I can't stop laughing *RARE BLANK NOTE - Both sides blank* Not suspicious But seriously speaking aren't the notes pressed with the printing plate so you can still see the indents on the notes even when the notes are blank?
