Now that my Dansco Jefferson is completed with Bu and above, I need to get on with filling another Dansco. I have my Washington quarters half full. My Mercury dime needs about 13 more and my Roosevelt dime is half filled. My Lincoln needs the 09-S VDB and the 22 no D but they are out of range right now so I can forget them. So the question is which is next:

Washington, Mercury or Roosevelt.

I'm leaning toward the Roosevelt right now. Can fill more slots faster and maybe the price of silver will drop soon. This is not to say I will forget the others entirely. Cant seem to find much in the way of nice Mercury's lately.

Need your opinions

Fill up the silver sets first before rising silver prices make the common coins cost more. Roosevelts should be an easy one to finish.

Roosevelt dimes should be the easiest and less costly.

Of course what grades you want will have a lot to do
with the prices. Most all silver Roosevelt dimes can
be had near melt in circulated grades. In BU some of the late 40's early 50's can be harder to find and have more cost. I did a BU/proof set last year, a few ended up costing me $15 to $20 each.

Washington quarters are not to bad if your staying in the XF to BU grades. I am working on that set now, well I am in the upgrade phase .. the more coins I get in better grade, the more I really like whole Washington series.

May I suggest the lovely Eisenhower dollar? Only 32 coins, you can complete it rather easily.

But since that is not on your list, go with Roosevelt dimes, which should also be rather easy to complete.

sounds like to might do some ebay buying? If so work on several different albums. buy only the coins that have the price your willing to pay. might be different denominations on different days, slowly fill several different albums.

If the 09S VDB is out of reach, the 16D for the Mercs will be too. As will the 32 D&S in higher grades for the Washingtons. Plus there are several in that series that carry decent premiums at higher MS grades. So, if money is a big issue right now, the Roosies are your best bet. Mid range MS with full bands can be had for decent prices. Is the Dansco the proof issue or just the business strike book? I ask simply because the silver proofs add to the over all cost of that album.

Mine is about half full, but I am concentrating on finishing off the Lincoln album first. I will likely get hung up on the 09 as well. The 22 no D wont be quite as bad I think.

And congrats on finishing off your Jeff book! I finished mine not long ago as well.

Franklins are also a rather small and affordable set ~35 coins, most can be had for less than $40 in pretty good condition.

I agree, Franklin half dollars are a good choice.

I would do them after you finish the Eisenhower dollar set. This is what I did.

Just to be a contrarian, how about Liberty nickels?

There are 33 coins in the set and most are affordable in a pretty decent grade. Even the keys are within reach if you're willing to go for something in a lower grade.

A Franklin set would be the easiest. I'll be starting one this year but won't be too concerned about condition.

Rest in Peace

The Walking Liberty half short set is fairly easy to complete and then you can back up to the earlier dates from there.

Roosies.
Easy to finish in the silver years...
What I did for the 65-up stuff (not just dimes) is buy all the mint sets,
and then I had all those years for almost every coin issue.
Mint sets are cheaper than buying all those coins one by one.
You will end up with a few here and there that could be better,
and you can upgrade those on a one by one basis,
but if you pick the sets wisely, you won't have many.
