I picked up this NGC-slabbed gold piece at a very good price back in 2010. What grade do you think it deserves?

Unless it's weakly-struck, I'm going to opine that it's seen the slightest bit of wear and says AU55 on the slab. There's a missing demarcation on the hair over the ear, and maybe the beginnings of wear on the wingtips.

This one has only the slightest amount of wear but many light marks in the fields. Some flat spots on the wing feathers. NGC most likely gave this one an AU-55

This coin persists in imaging with a pinkish hue; the real color is a shiny golden yellow and its cleaned status is revealed by the near-total lack of cartwheel luster. Detail-wise I agree it's an easy AU-55, with just the slightest trace of rub.

Too bad somebody just had to "improve" it. But, anytime I can get a no-motto half eagle for bullion price I'm OK with it!

One of those "light cleanings" that sometimes are deemed Market Acceptable and other times are bagged. The large images in the first make the coin appear Market Acceptable as an AU55 but it might look different in-hand.
